Business Insider article on large cruise ship food

So I came across this article today - https://www.businessinsider.com/best-large-cruise-ships-people-who-love-food-cruisecritic-ranking-2019-7

Interesting article. Not sure I agree with their definition of large ships - the Celebrity Summit is on the list, and it clocks in at only 90,000 tonnes. It is one of the smallest in Celebrity’s fleet, and is positively dwarfed by the Oasis class ships from Royal Caribbean.

I have to admit though -when we sailed on the Summit this past winter, the food was wonderful! Every meal in the dining room was top shelf, and we all thoroughly enjoyed the buffet breakfasts and lunches. The orange butter for the waffles was decadent!

I still have dreams of beef wellington!

Once curious thing about the article - 9 of the 10 ships on the “Best Food” list are owned by Royal Caribbean. Does that mean that only Royal Caribbean and Celebrity are worth going on for the food, and if you sail with someone else the food will be a disappointment? Of course not.

Other big lines also have terrific food. I have had great meals on Princess. Others swear by Disney. The thing about lists like the Business Insider article is that they are sourced from a web site which is community driven. So whichever cruise company is most popular with the participants of Cruise Critic will likely come out on top. I’m not saying RC doesn’t deserve the honor - Celebrity is my preferred cruise line, largely for the food. My point is - it isn’t the only game in town. If you have booked with another line, you will quite likely be able to find some delicious meals on the ship.

But if you sail on Celebrity, and have a sweet tooth - orange butter on waffles. Seriously.
