How to cope with jet lag

I personally don’t do well with changing time zones. Jet lag is a bear to deal with for me, and as a result I have developed some coping strategies. Some come from research, others are just what seems to work for me.

Recently I came across a site focuses on sleep - tuck.com. The site has a lot of reviews of everything sleep related: from CPAP machines to Casper mattresses.

The page I found most interesting was https://www.tuck.com/jet-lag/. In particular, there is some good advice for handling what they term ‘extreme travel’ - 8 time zones or more. While I haven’t had a chance to try all of these suggestions , they make perfect sense, and are supported by medical research. In particular I found the points about confusing sunrise for sunset to be interesting. My usual routine is to make sure I am outside as the sun sets when I am many time zones from home. Turns out that there are circumstances where that isn’t the best idea.

If you have a major trip coming up which will take you far out of your time zone, definitely check out this link. The quicker you can get past the jet lag, the sooner you can start enjoying your trip.

And now, here is a picture of a sleepy kitten. :)
