Kusadasi Turkey - See the magnificent ruins of Ephesus

Have you ever stood before some ancient structure and thought: “How on earth did they build that without modern equipment?” I definitely felt that way when I was in Ephesus. Celsus’ Library is beautiful and an absolute marvel.

This is a port where you definitely benefit from a knowledgeable tour guide. Getting insights into the history take this from being immediately impressive to something you will think and talk about for years.

An added benefit of a qualified guide - when something unexpected happens, they can adapt. The day we were in port was a national holiday, so Ephesus wasn’t open until 11 am. Fortunately our guide was very experienced, and knew what to do. Rather than just wasting time waiting, she took us to a series of interesting sites which enriched the experience.

Celsus’ Library. Didn’t see any books

One piece of free advice - if you go to Ephesus, take the Terrace Houses option. It is like stepping back in time, and seeing how people lived 2000 years ago. Well, very rich people.

Just don’t be fooled by the “Genuine Fake Watches”. They looked like real watches to me.
