Fly cheaper with mistake fares

When you look at the exotic destinations people post online, do you wish air travel was more affordable? One trick people use is flying on seat sales and mistake fares.

A mistake fare is when an airline posts an unreasonably low price for a flight. Sometimes they cancel and refund these bookings, but often they will honor them. I know some who regularly book mistake fares, and have had some of the best trips of their life by doing so.

To fully benefit from a mistake fare, you need to be flexible - both in destination and in timing. You generally can’t just fly anywhere at any time on a mistake fare. But what can happen is that you see a rate for a destination and a time-frame that is much lower than normal. If the destination intrigues you, and the time works, you can be off on an unexpected adventure.

Some good sites for mistake fares:

As I type this there is a fare from New York to Oslo Norway for $280 round-trip. Maybe you have never thought of going to Oslo, but for $280, maybe it is worth checking out.

Who knows what new places you will discover
